- This Friday we will be tracking out. It is also an early release date. School is dismissed at 1:15.
- This week in reading, we are focusing on using illustrations in a story to help us better understand characters, setting, and plot. In writing, we are focusing on making our small moments better by looking at our beginnings and endings, as well as the details, to make them more meaningful. In math, we are continuing with addition and subtraction strategies for two digit numbers. We are beginning a new science unit on changes in properties of solids and liquids.

- Check the home tab above to find the last three weeks' spelling lists. Our first tri-weekly spelling test is this Wednesday. Make sure your child is studying the patterns for the test!
- This week we are switching gears to focus on asking and answering questions about nonfiction texts. Remember that your child can use Big Universe to read nonfiction or even Tumblebooks, if you don't have any nonfiction books at home. Encourage your child to go to the library to check out nonfiction books for homework.
- Please check to make sure your child is logging his or her homework each night and answering the daily question. I have had several students not doing their homework or turning it in partially finished. Thank you for your help with this!

We will also be learning how to ask strong questions about the texts we read to be more critical readers. We will write another small moment story and learn about our government.
- Make sure that your child is reading for 15 minutes every night and answering the questions on his/her reading log.
